Choosing Locally Owned

Published: June 8, 2020

When choosing the right funeral home for my father, we decided it was important to use one that was locally owned and operated.  It meant a lot for us to know the owner and staff rather than dealing with strangers.  It’s difficult to place your loved one in the hands of someone you have no knowledge of.  It makes good sense to have compassionate, caring professionals taking care of people we love.

While people may not think much about the concept, there are many advantages of using a locally owned funeral home.  For one, your money stays local and is reinvested there.  You’re working with people you know and trust, and it helps ensure they will be in business the next time a need arises.  Funeral homes close every year across the country in towns just like ours.  They are community partners that are assets to the areas they serve and appreciate your support.

And remember – the cheapest choice may not be the best choice.  Funeral home costs are similar to anything else you may purchase.  When you are purchasing new appliances for your home, for example, you know that if you purchase the cheapest, it may not be of good quality.  The same goes for funeral services.  When my father passed away my immediate thought wasn’t to seek out the cheapest place in town; I just wanted the best care for my father.  And that’s not to say that the best care has to the most expensive, but there’s a reason for the old saying “you get what you pay for”.

Value and trust are created when funeral homes have helped people in their communities over the course of time and have comforted families with the best care possible through difficult times.  When services are over and a family is able to walk away with a positive, meaningful experience and a good start to life with a “new normal” – that is truly priceless.  In my 20+ years as a licensed funeral professional, I have never heard complaints about the cost when families have received the best care possible – which is what should be expected of your local funeral home.  Call me today and I will help you create a memorable experience for your loved ones.
