ALBANY – Former Albany resident Mary Ellen Arbuckle, age 89, died Thursday August 17, 2017 at Chesterwood Village of West Chester, Ohio. Born in Redkey on December 15, 1927, she graduated from IP Gov. Gray High School in 1945. She graduated from Indiana University-Purdue University Ft. Wayne with a teaching degree and received a Masters degree from the University of Saint Francis. Mrs. Arbuckle taught school in Brighton, Indiana and was a homemaker who enjoyed music and reading. She lived in Albany and Angola for several years before moving to Ohio nine years ago.
Survivors include three daughters: Rosalind Arbuckle, Atlanta, GA, Marianne Phillips (husband: Pat), Gunnison, CO, and Wendy Oetjen (husband: David), West Chester, OH; a son-in-law: Kevin Willibey, Angola; three grandchildren: Maren Spurgeon (husband: Gama Rivera), Marta Guy (husband: Nathan), Kory Willibey, and four great-grandchildren: Marco, Lucy, Emmaline, and Kahle.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Theodore S. “Ted” Arbuckle; two daughters: Joann Arbuckle & Melody Willibey; parents: Albert C. & Lila D. (Stone) Landauer; a brother: Lewis C. Landauer, and a sister: Nancy J. Shoemaker.
Services will be 3 p.m. Saturday August 19, 2017 at Meacham Funeral Service. Burial will take place at Hillcrest Cemetery, Redkey.
Visiting hours will be held on Saturday from 2 until 3 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorials may be sent to a charity of the donor's choice.
