I will miss talking with Elmer Sunday mornings as he was seated on the back row at the Albany United Methodist Church.

I have fond memories of being around Elmer as a young boy. Growing up with the boys for a while. Learning a little metal working, but most of all what a kind man he was, and through the years at times he still helped me with the small projects that came along. He always had time to help. We have lost a great man. May he rest in peace,  All my prayers are with the family.

So sorry to hear of Elmer's passing.  He was truly a pillar of our community.  We have lost yet another one of America's Greatest Generation.  He reminded me so much of my own Dad.  They shared a lot of history.  We are currently out of state and can not be there to pay our respects in person but know you all are in our thoughts and prayers.

Elmer loved to show his King Midget cars at the engine and tractor show at the Jay County Fairgrounds in Portland, IN.  We were often set up near him and always enjoyed visiting with him.  He liked to give you a quick spin around the grounds.

Over the years when I was in/thru Albany I would often stop at his sheet metal shop and he was usually working on one of his cars, likely a Triumph convertible.  He would just smile and say, when I get this one finished I will take my lady out for a drive and go get some ice cream.

Thank you for your service to our country during WWII.

May you have fond memories of Elmer and may God hold him in the palm of His hands.
