ALBANY – Perry Don Hayes, age 75, Albany, died Monday June 5, 2017, at home. Born January 14, 1942 in Jamestown, Tennessee, he grew up there and lived briefly in Ohio before moving to Muncie in the early 1960’s. Perry spent the past several years as a resident of Albany. He worked for General Motors in Muncie for thirty-eight years before retiring in 2001. He also owned Hayes’ Roost in Fairview (1982-1987) and provided dump truck services (1993-2003). Perry was a member of Anthony Lodge No. 171, F. & A.M., Albany, and AMVETS Post 12, Royerton. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and making walking sticks.
Survivors include his wife of fifty years, Judy Hayes; a son: P.D. Hayes (wife: Shelly), Albany; a daughter: Lisa Barlow (husband: Kenton), Muncie; a brother: Danny Hayes, Jamestown, TN; five grandchildren: Rhaea Hayden (husband: Colton), Tanna Riggin (fiancé: Will Chambers), Tori Barlow, Logan Hayes (fiancé: Jared Meranda), and Devin Lawson (wife: Katey); a great-grandson: Silas Hayden, and many friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents: Shirley & Ollie Hayes, an infant brother: Guy Hayes, and a sister: Hessie Perry.
Services will be 1 p.m. Friday, June 9, 2017 at Meacham Funeral Service. Burial will follow at Black Cemetery.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday from 4 until 8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home.
Masonic rites will be given at 8 p.m. on Thursday by members of Anthony Lodge.
