Wanda M. Edwards

Wanda M. Edwards, born in Muncie to Everett L. & Margaret M. (Metzger) Miller, left her earthly home on December 23, 2022.  Wanda was a 1954 graduate of Albany High School.  She met and married Robert Edwards in 1954.  They spent their first two years at Fort Sill, OK, where she became a civil service employee.  Returning to Albany, she was employed by R.M. Thomas Co. of Muncie.  Later she became a B.S.U. student, graduating in 1970 and 1973 with a B.S. and M.A. degree in education.  She began her teaching career at DeSoto Elementary School and later retiring from Albany Elementary in 1998.  Wanda & Bob spent the next few years traveling the country and wintering in Florida.

Wanda was a member of Albany United Methodist Church.  She enjoyed playing bridge, bowling, square dancing, attending athletic events, singing in the choir, and especially her young students with whom she formed lifetime relationships.

She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Bob Edwards, several nieces & nephews, and daughters-in-law: Nikki Crawmer and Michele Sanders. 

Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, her older brother: Richard, and her only son: Mark S. Edwards (Rikee Crawmer) who died in February of 2022.

Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday, December 29, 2022 at Albany United Methodist Church.  Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery.

Visiting hours are Thursday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the church.
