Thomas David Stone Obituary

Thomas David Stone, 73, passed away at his home in Atlanta, Georgia.  Mr. Stone was born in Muncie, Indiana at Ball Memorial Hospital.  He spent his childhood on the family farm just outside Albany, Indiana and graduated from Albany High School as President of the class of 1963.  He graduated with a bachelor's degree in Business from Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana.   He taught for several years in the Eaton School system, helped start a furniture business in Atlanta, and ultimately spent 26 years at Delta Air Lines achieving an executive position as Director of Stockholder Relations and later advocated for Delta employees and retirees.  An avid traveler, he looked for adventure in everyday places and enjoyed connecting with people.  His retirement years were full of attending baseball games, diligently maintaining his fleet of Ford vehicles, and having lunch with his kids.  His generosity, compassion, ability to listen, calm demeanor, and his dry but subtle wit were welcome and appreciated by both family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Verne Stone and Mary Louise (Bell) Stone; his Aunt, Harriet Elizabeth Bell; and his sister, Sara Lucinda Stone. Survivors include his sister, Elizabeth Ann (Stone) Miller/Baldwin; the mother of his children, Patricia (Rairden) Stone; his three children, Anijka Bell Stone (husband, Mark Clark and son, Ian Robert Clark), Kristen Elizabeth Stone (husband, Howard Strader), and Robert Andrew Stone (partner, Kimberly Albers); his nephew, Michael Haydon Miller (wife Kathryn, sons Hayden and Isaac) and his cousin, George Edwin Stone (wife, Sue Stone).

Family and friends will gather on Saturday, September 8, 2018 starting with a visitation at 1 p.m. and services at 3 p.m. at Meacham Funeral Service in Albany.  After the burial, a Celebration of Life will be held at All Seasons Banquet Hall until 7 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Strong Cemetery Association or Albany United Methodist Church.
