Tara May (St. John) Long, age 77, Albany, died Wednesday November 16, 2022 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital following a sudden illness. Born in Belfast, Northern Ireland on February 24, 1945, she came the United States at age 1 and remained a resident of Albany since that time. She was a 1963 graduate of Albany High School and enjoyed playing cards with her son, Ricky. Tara worked in the office of R.J. Whitinger, Muncie, for several years. She also worked at Lifetouch and retired from Gill Bros. Furniture.
Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Jack Long; sons: Mark Long (wife: Sharon), Muncie, and Ricky Long (special friend: Marilyn Bodell), Albany; daughter: Marcie Cochran, Warsaw; sisters: Colleen St. John, Albany, and Denise Ryan, Albany; grandchildren: Amber Cochran (significant other: Toby Alldaffer), Warsaw, Andrea Cochran (significant other: Anthony Marquez), CA, and Zachary Long (significant other: Cori Chapman), Muncie; great-grandchildren: Cash Wayne Cochran and Cori Lee Cochran; step-grandchildren: Kalvin Danaher (wife: Samantha), Brittney Rooney, and Kameron Danaher (wife: Raquel); nieces, and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her father: Glen O. St. John; mother: Julia (Magilton) Ryan; sister: Debbie Bisel; son-in-law: Rick Cochran, and niece: Ashley Ryan.
Cremation was chosen; a celebration of life will be held 1 p.m. Sunday, December 11, 2022 at the Albany Lions Club.
