Steven J. Edwards, age 64, Muncie, died Saturday November 6, 2021at home after battling diabetes. Born in Muncie July 24, 1957, he was a lifelong resident of Delaware County. He graduated from Muncie Southside High School in 1975 and Indiana Vocational Technical College (now Ivy Tech) in 1977. Steve worked at Ball State University as an Environmental Control Mechanic for 36 years before retiring in 2019. He was actively involved within the Masonic community as a member and Past Master of Muncie Lodge #433 (now Delaware #46), former Area Representative, and Past Master of Sulphur Springs Lodge. In addition, he belonged to the Murpah Shrine Club, was an honorary member of many area lodges, and was a mentor to countless new Masons. Steve enjoyed spending time with his family, riding his motorcycle, and hunting. He was a member of Crestview Golf Course, attended Corinth Methodist Church, and was a former union president of AFSCME Local 293.
Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Debra (Foster) Edwards, and their sons: Brian Edwards (wife: Amanda), Muncie, and Michael Edwards (wife: Lindsay), Delaware County; his mother: Madonna Byrd, Muncie; brother: Ronald Edwards (Rhonda), Redkey; two sisters: Julie Coburn and his twin sister: Linda Korstad (husband: Roger), both of AZ; mother-in-law: Marie Foster, Muncie; five grandchildren: Taylor Logan (husband: Bailey), Cassidy Edwards, Benjamin Edwards, Evelyn Edwards, and Ellamae Edwards; several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his father: Ronald Edwards, step-father: Elmer Byrd, and father-in-law: Wilburn Foster.
Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday, November 11, 2021 at Parson Mortuary, 801 W. Adams St., Muncie, IN 47305. Cremation will follow.
Visiting hours are Wednesday from 4 until 8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Thursday at Parson Mortuary. Masonic rites will be given 8 p.m. Wednesday at the mortuary.
