Shirley J. Hardwick

Shirley Jean (Crump) Hardwick, age 84, Muncie, died Monday September 5, 2022 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital surrounded by family.  Born in Muncie on September 12, 1937, she attended Royerton High School and was a lifelong Muncie resident.  Shirley was a talented cook, working at Muncie Central High School and the Muncie Eagles Lodge for several years.  She retired after working as a secretary for the Wilson School Apartments where she made many friends.  Shirley was a member of the Muncie Eagles Lodge and enjoyed watching hummingbirds and growing flowers.

Survivors include a son: Joe R. Hardwick, Gaston; 2 daughters: Lisa A. Hardwick, Muncie, and Brenda K. Rose, Muncie; 4 grandchildren: Russell L. Rose (Hailey), Shaunna K. Rose (Reggie), Stephanie Lynn (Hardwick) Hiatt (husband: Jason), and Joe Robert Hardwick; 6 great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents: Roy L. (Sr.) & Cecil (Babbitt) Crump; brothers: Ronald Crump and Roy L. Crump, Jr.; a sister: Jaqueline Hughes, and son-in-law: Steve A. Rose.

Graveside services will take place 2 p.m. Saturday, September 10, 2022 at Union Cemetery, DeSoto, with burial following.
