Rosie Marie Spain, 82, Muncie, died June 4, 2021 in Albany following an extended illness. Born June 27, 1938 in Cumberland County, Kentucky, she moved to New Castle at age 11 and lived several years in Muncie before moving to Albany. She cleaned houses, did factory work in Muncie 4 years, and was a caretaker for the elderly 15 years. Rosie was a member of Avondale Sympathy Club and enjoyed quilting and camping.
Survivors include a son: Frankie (Audria) Spain, Eaton; daughter: Kim (Chris) Conkright, Owensboro, KY; brother: John Johnson, Muncie; sisters: Barb (Jim) Kirkland, KY, Peggy Batio, Albany, and Judy (Charley) Daniel, Farmland; grandchildren: Austin (Jessica) Spain, Mariah Spain, Chase Spain, Josie Spain, and Hunter Spain; great-grandchildren: Kali Davis, Reagan Spain, Uriah Wilson, Asher Wilson, Conway Spain, and Kash Cody.
She is preceded in death by her former husband of 40+ years: Don Spain; parents: Ervin R. “Bob” & Sally Mae (Davis) Johnson; brothers: Edward, James, and Richard “Dickie” Johnson; sisters: Jeni DeVoe, Robbie Higginbotham, and Myrtie Blevins.
Services will be 3 p.m. Thursday, June 10, 2021 at Meacham Funeral Service. Burial will follow at Strong Cemetery.
Visiting hours are Thursday from 2-3 p.m. at the funeral home.
