Ronald H. Prouty

Ronald Harley Prouty, 88 from DeSoto passed away at home on August 19th, 2023 with family at his side.  Ron was born April 4, 1935 in Bluffton, IN to Harley & Virginia Prouty.  He was a graduate of Desoto High School in 1953.  Ron married Gretchen Sue Harrold on July 29, 1956 and recently celebrated 67 years of marriage.  He was an electrician for Harris Electric and Borg Warner for most of his working life.  Ron was Chairman of The Trustees at DeSoto United Methodist Church for 20 years and Chairman of DeSoto Cemetery Committee.  Ron was the happiest when he was helping out family and friends.

Ron is survived by his wife Gretchen; children: Denise (Rick) Thomason, Fishers, IN, Bret (Linda) Prouty, Greenwood, IN, and Kent Prouty, DeSoto, IN.  He has 5 grandchildren:  Joshua (Ingrid) Prouty, Adam (Payton) Thomason, Stacy Green, Rachel (Brandon) Kay and Sarah (Harry) Longe; 5 great grandchildren:  Sydney, Leah, Natalie, Alice and Isla.  Also, a brother: Bruce Prouty, and a sister: Phyllis Ireland.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents: Harley & Virginia Prouty, and in-laws: Delbert and Irene Harrold.

Services are 11 a.m. Monday, August 28, 2023 at DeSoto United Methodist Church.  Burial will follow at Union Cemetery, DeSoto.

Visiting hours are Sunday (Aug. 27) from 2 until 5 p.m. at Meacham Funeral Service and one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church.
