Roberta (Bobbie) Strahan Obituary

Roberta (Bobbie) Strahan, age 81, died on Sunday, March 19, 2023, with her family by her side. She was born May 12, 1941, in Crawfordsville, Indiana to James and Maribelle (Canada) Kidd.  Bobbie spent her early childhood in the Crawfordsville area before moving to the westside of Indianapolis where she attended Ben Davis High School and played clarinet in the marching band. After graduation she attended Purdue University where she received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Home Economics in 1963.

Bobbie worked for Ball State Dining Service over the span of 35 years, retiring in 2000 as an assistant manager. One of her many duties at Ball State was training the student employees, which she thoroughly enjoyed!  She spent many summers canning and freezing harvests from a small farm on the outskirts of Albany, her wares were lovingly displayed in her home as “Bobbie’s Vital Vittles”.  She was an amazing cook and loved garage sales, spending time in her flower gardens, and a good Diet Coke. Bobbie was a past member of Albany Tri Kappa, Twentieth Century Club, Garden Club and volunteered at the Albany United Methodist Resale Shop and the Albany Library.

Bobbie loved her family dearly.  Survivors include her daughter, Beth Henry (Shannon), Albany, IN, sons, Ben Alexander (Dena), Eaton, IN and, Dan Alexander (Donna), Springville, IN.  Grandchildren include Courtney Clark (Tilmon), Alexander McCormick (Brittany), Katie Duncan, Abby Wegener (Jon), Natalie Gariety (Austin), Miles Alexander, and Coleman Alexander.  Great Grandchildren include Sadie, Duke, Shepherd, Winnie, and Briggs.

She was preceded in death by her mother, father, and stepfather Floyd “Red” Russell who adopted Bobbie when she was a child.
