Robert E. Ashcraft Obituary

Robert Eugene Ashcraft, age 89, passed away Wednesday April 27, 2022 at home following an extended illness.  Bob was born May 1, 1933 in DeSoto, the son of Blanch (Bartsch) and Albert “Bert” Ashcraft.  His first eight years of school were in Albany; he graduated from Dunkirk High School in 1951.  Bob retired in 1983 after 30 years of service at Warner Gear.  He was a member of Albany United Methodist Church and Local 287.  He was a paint contractor and had some faithful customers for more than 50 years.  He and his wife, Janet, did extensive traveling in the U.S. and took two trips to Europe.  They split their time between Florida and Indiana for 13 years.  He was a loving, doting father, grandfather, and great grandfather.

Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Janet; his loving daughters: Paula (Chuck) Moulton and Janell Wilson; grandchildren: Matthew (Mandy) Moulton, Benjamin (Amy) Moulton, Emily Moulton, Ryan (Laura) Wilson, and Lisa (Jason) Kaufman; 12 great grandchildren; brother: James (Jo Ann) Ashcraft; brother-in-law: Earl Gowen.

He is preceded in death by a granddaughter: Melissa Wilson; his mother & father; brothers: William L. & Herbert E. Ashcraft, and sisters: Dorothy Edgar and his twin, Betty Gowen.

Services will be 3 p.m. Sunday, May 1, 2022 at Albany United Methodist Church.  Burial will follow at Black Cemetery.

Visiting hours are Sunday from 1 until 3 p.m. at the church.
