Robert P. DeHaven, age 95, formerly of Albany, died Monday August 29, 2022 at Five Star Residences of Noblesville. Born near Albany on November 7, 1926, Bob grew up in Delaware County and graduated from DeSoto High School with the class of 1944. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII and a former member of American Legion Post 167, Albany. After working 24 years at Chevrolet in Muncie, Bob retired as a tinsmith in 1989. He worked at Glasco Corp., Muncie, from 1954-1965 as a model builder and farmed in Delaware County for around 20 years. His hobbies included building miniature farm toys from metal.
Survivors include 2 sons: Stephen Joe DeHaven, Fishers, and Dale Alan DeHaven (wife: Debra), Noblesville; 4 grandchildren: Jill DeHaven Buckler (husband: Brian), Fishers, Jason DeHaven, Indianapolis, Darci DeHaven Arora (husband: Sanjay), Atlanta, GA, and Drew DeHaven (wife: Elizabeth), Noblesville; 4 great-grandchildren: Emily Janwari (husband: Aquil), Evan Buckler, Eli Buckler, and Ella Buckler.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Donna F. (Cline) DeHaven, who died in 2013. His parents: Robert R. & Alice M. (Markwell) DeHaven, and sister: Betty Felton, are also deceased.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, September 3, 2022 at Meacham Funeral Service. His granddaughter, Rev. Jill DeHaven Buckler, will officiate. Burial will follow at Strong Cemetery with military rites provided by Veterans of Delaware County Honor Guard.
Visiting hours are Friday from 5 until 8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home.
