Ray Burcham, Jr.

Raymond D. “Ray” Burcham, Jr., 83, rural Dunkirk, died Sunday May 15, 2022 at Bethel Pointe Health & Rehabilitation Center, Muncie.  Born August 28, 1938 in Yorktown, he grew up there and was a 1956 graduate of Yorktown High School.  Ray was a real estate agent/broker with Coldwell Banker Lunsford for 20 years before retiring.  He also worked at McCormick Bros. in Albany, Tiara, Dunkirk (as a supervisor for around 20 years), and Meadow Gold Dairy, Muncie (as a supervisor for over 20 years).  He was an active member Union Chapel Ministries and belonged to the Smithsonian Institute.  Ray enjoyed reading and writing, and in earlier years raised quarter horses and birds.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Marilyn Burcham, and their children: Sean Burcham (wife: Linda), Dunkirk, Steve Burcham, Dunkirk, Brian Burcham (wife: Denise), Albany, Julie Calhoun, Dunkirk, Polly Boren (husband: Lael), Upland, Todd Burcham (wife: Mary Jo), Dunkirk, and Chet Burcham (wife: Maria), Dunkirk; brothers: David Burcham (wife: Beth), Menola, TX, and John Burcham (wife: Jean), Anderson; sister-in-law: Nancy Burcham, Greenwood; 17 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents: Raymond D. (Sr.) & Katheryn (Terrell) Burcham, and brother: Kenneth Burcham.

Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, May 19, 2022 at Union Chapel Ministries, Muncie.  Burial will follow at Black Cemetery, Albany.

Visiting hours are Wednesday from 4 until 8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the church.
