Obituary

Phyllis A. (Shafer) Shroyer, age 95 of rural Eaton, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday March 5, 2023, following an unexpected medical episode.  Born in Delaware County on February 24, 1928, she graduated from DeSoto High School with the class of 1946.  Phyllis was a member of DeSoto United Methodist Church.  She was a homemaker and loved flowers.

Survivors include her sons: Joe Shroyer (wife: Theresa), Muncie, Jon Shroyer, Albany, and Jerry Shroyer (wife: Betsy), Albany; six grandchildren: Aaron (wife: Chelsea), Austin (wife: Morgan), Anthony, James, Joshua, and Jordan; five great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, James D. “Jim” Shroyer, who died in 2020; parents: Francis O. & Kathryn (Anderson) Shafer; brother: Rodney A. Shafer, and two sisters: Jane Burt and Annabel Conn.

A graveside service will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, March 9, 2023 at Union Cemetery, DeSoto, with Pastor John Garrett officiating.  Burial will follow.

Memorials may be sent to a not-for-profit charity of the donor’s choice.
