Obituary

Penny Henry, age 78, Albany, died Monday March 6, 2023 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital following an extended illness.  Born in Muncie on October 2, 1944, she grew up in Muncie and was a graduate of Muncie Central High School.  Besides being a homemaker, Penny worked in management over the years at Famous Recipe, Shoney’s, and Mac’s, all of Muncie.  She enjoyed any activity involving her grandchildren or great-grandchildren, and was a big Colt’s fan.  Always concerned about the weather, Penny was constantly looking after the safety and well-being of her family.

Survivors include her husband whom she married in 1963, Delnor “Bud” Henry, and their sons: Rick Henry (wife: Mindi), Muncie, and Aaron “Ron” Henry (wife: Stacie), Crystal Lake, IL; 6 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents: John Morgan & Cophene M. (Haskett) McDowell; brothers: James McDowell, Edward “Leroy” McDowell, and Kenneth McDowell; sisters: Betty Williams, Dorothy Hughes, Nila Clabby, Margie Cross, Gladys Burris, Phyllis Scott, and Shirley Ammonett. 

Private family services will be held at Meacham Funeral Service with burial to follow.
