Noah Lynn Cothrum, age 23, rural Redkey, died unexpectedly on Friday November 26, 2021 in Muncie. Born May 1, 1998 in Russellville, Alabama, he attended Monroe Central High School and was a graduate of Alexandria-Monroe High School in 2016. Noah formerly worked at the Jay County Sheriff’s Department, New Castle Correctional Facility, and Eaton EMT’s. He was a powerlifter who won thirty-one awards in four different states for his excellence in strength. His last act of selflessness most likely saved his mother’s life as he carried her in his arms into the emergency room for treatment of a serious illness.
Survivors include his mother: Shelly Cothrum, Redkey; two brothers: Jason Cothrum, Russellville, AL, and Blake McCoy, Richmond; maternal grandmother: Betty Ashby (husband: Norman), Albany; two nephews: Landre McCoy and Ruger McCoy; several aunts, uncles, cousins, and a host of good friends.
He is preceded in death by his father, Gene Cothrum; maternal grandfather: Robert D. Stephenson; maternal great-grandmother: Christina Stephenson, and two best friends: Sam McDermit and Tyler Davis.
In accordance with Noah’s wishes, there will be no public services. Cremation was chosen.
