Marjorie “Maizie” Hensley, age 93, DeSoto, died Tuesday June 27, 2023 at Lynd Place, Muncie. Born in Henry County on March 13, 1930, she moved to Delaware County and was a 1948 graduate of DeSoto High School. She was a tax consultant at Baird Accounting (formerly in Albany) for 33 years before retiring in 2000. Maizie was a member of DeSoto United Methodist Church and enjoyed water skiing, golfing, bowling, and fishing. She was a terrific athlete and played semi-professional baseball at one time. During the 1980’s she served as a bowling league secretary in Muncie. She also was an avid fan of the Cincinnati Reds, Indianapolis Colts, and Indiana Pacers. For 63 years she enjoyed spending time with family at her Witmer Lake cottage and always loved being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include a son: Michael E. Hensley (Theresa Johnson), DeSoto, and daughter: Connie Jean Denney (husband: Daniel M.), DeSoto; sister: Patricia L. Reed, Yorktown; sister-in-law: Betty A. Dennis, Yorktown; 6 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, and several nieces & nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Forest E. “Fuzz” Hensley; son: Forrest W. “Mick” Hensley; parents: Mahlon & Lucille (Kinnett) Hensley; brother: Donald Dennis; 3 infant siblings; daughters-in-law: Patience Hensley and Roxanne Hensley; also, best friend: Joan Coffman.
Services will be 4 p.m. Sunday, July 2, 2023 at Meacham Funeral Service. Burial will be at a later date at Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
Visiting hours are Sunday from 2 until 4 p.m. at the funeral home.
