M. Sue Pittenger

M. Sue Pittenger, age 85, Muncie, died Wednesday May 25, 2022 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.  Born in Jay County on October 24, 1936, she grew up in Redkey and was a graduate of Redkey High School and Indiana Business College.  Along with her husband, Bud, she owned & operated Walnut Grove Golf Club (now Albany Golf Club) from 1970 until 1990.  Over the years she also worked for Indiana & Michigan Electric Co., Merchants Bank in Albany, Crestview Golf Club, Portland Country Club, and Royal Family Dentistry.  In addition, she started her own business – a lighting company named Holly House of Domes.  Sue was a member of Union Chapel Ministries and Delta Theta Tau Sorority.  She enjoyed playing cards with a local card club, reading, working crossword puzzles, taking rides, going out to eat, and spending time with family.

Survivors include a son: Tim Pittenger (companion: Sherry Mitch), Muncie; daughter: Julie Hamilton (companion: Mark Antosik), Warsaw; her companion: Herb Shidler, Muncie; sister: Janis Current, Redkey; granddaughter: Holly Hamilton, Warsaw, and several nieces & nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Bud Pittenger, who died in 2009; parents: David & Meredith Cook; brothers: Melvin Cook and Obed Cook, and sisters: Wilma Lucas and Phyllis McLaughlin. 

A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 31, 2022 at Meacham Funeral Service.

Visiting hours are Tuesday from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
