Former Albany resident Linda (Summerfield) Stinson, age 81, Yorktown, died Tuesday March 8, 2022 at Manatee Memorial Hospital, Bradenton, FL while visiting family there. Born in Muncie July 27, 1940, she graduated from Albany High School in 1958. Linda was a homemaker and over the years worked at Armstrong Cork (now Ardagh), Dunkirk, in the kitchen at Albany Health Care, and she worked with special needs children while living in Florida. She was an active member of Dunkirk Elks Lodge 1776 and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include 2 daughters: Vanna DeVoe (husband: Steve), Muncie, and Tami Johnson (significant other: Jerry Smedley), Muncie; brother: Bill Summerfield (wife: June), Bradenton, FL; sister: Beth Cox (husband: John, deceased), Muncie; grandchildren: Leslie DeVoe, Molly Fisher, and Joey Leatherwood (wife: Kayleigh); great-grandchildren: Delaney Heflin, Abigail & Amelia Fisher, and Lennon & Eleanor Leatherwood; nieces, nephews, and extended family.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Dean Stinson, who died in 2014, and parents: Vernon & Pauline Summerfield.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Cremation was chosen.
Memorials may be sent to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital.
