Karen Kay (Marsh) Townsend, 76, Albany, died Sunday April 11, 2021 at the home of her daughter with family by her side. She was born in Muncie on August 27, 1944 to Ruby Jewel Marsh and Cecil Eugene Marsh. She and her husband, Ed, were longtime residents of Delaware county. Karen was well known in the tri county area where she raised her kids, owned the House of Pizza in Albany and Dunkirk, as well as worked for the Redkey post office for 34 years. After retiring from the postal service in 2006, she enjoyed volunteering her time doing funeral dinners and co-leading Bible studies at Union Chapel Ministries where she was a member for many years. Additionally, she volunteered her time at First Choice for Women, an organization that was dear to her heart. She had an impact on the lives of many and will be dearly missed by all.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Edward Townsend, daughter, Dawn DeeAnn Breedlove, grandson, Adam Myles Breedlove, and her parents.
Survivors include siblings: Nancy Lacey (husband: Tom), Monty Marsh (wife: Bonnie), and Gretchen Livezey (husband: Randy, deceased); children: Robin (Breedlove) Eldib (husband: Ken), Marsha (Breedlove) Handley (husband: Chris), Scott Breedlove (wife: Dinah), Sherrie (Townsend) Hines, Mark Townsend, Dean Townsend (wife: Lori), Chris Townsend (wife: Jill), Ted Townsend (wife: Susan), Andy Townsend (wife: Amy), and Daniel Townsend; several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, April 17, 2021 at Union Chapel Ministries, Muncie, with visiting hours from 12 until 2 p.m. on Saturday at the church. Burial will follow at Godlove Cemetery, Albany.
