Joy L. (Bowne) Friddle, age 89, rural Dunkirk, died Wednesday June 7, 2023 at home following an extended illness. Born in Henry County on October 20, 1933, she grew up in Ridgeville and was a 1952 graduate of Ridgeville High School. Joy was a homemaker and worked at Indiana Glass Co., Dunkirk, for over 20 years before retiring. She was a member of Local 501, attended Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church in earlier years, and enjoyed flower gardening, IU basketball, and the Cincinnati Reds. During the 1990’s she and her husband enjoyed wintering in Florida.
Survivors include a daughter: Donna L. Friddle, Dunkirk; two sons: Robert D. Friddle, Dunkirk, and Michael E. Friddle, Ruskin, FL; two grandchildren: Joshua Weesner and Nikki Torre; six great-grandchildren, three nieces, and five nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Robert E. Friddle, who died in 2006. Also deceased is a daughter: Karla L. Weesner; parents: John E. & Katrina (Cross) Bowne; a brother: Farrell E. Bowne, and a sister: Kathryn Wilkinson.
Private family services will be held at Dunkirk I.O.O.F. Cemetery with burial to follow.
