Jimmie L. Heston, 88, Albany, died Sunday December 26, 2021 at Albany Health Care & Rehabilitation Center following a short illness. Born in Portland August 19, 1933, he graduated from Gov. I.P. Gray High School with the class of 1951. Mr. Heston worked for Warner Gear, Muncie, for 38 years before retiring in 1998 and often met with his fellow retirees for breakfast. He was a U.S. Army veteran and HAM radio operator (WA9YIC). Over the years he enjoyed woodworking and flying radio control airplanes.
Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Lula Mae Heston; son: Rick Heston (wife: Terri), Yorktown; daughters: Lisa Brothers (husband: Bruce), Muncie, and Lori Qualls (husband: Allen), Albany; half-brother: Donald Young (wife: Magda), El Paso, TX; 4 grandchildren: Amanda Willis (husband: Keith), Christopher Qualls (wife: Kyrsten), Matthew Brothers (wife: Baylee), and Cassidi Qualls; 4 great-grandchildren: Elizabeth & Andrew Qualls, and Luke & Noah Willis; uncle: Herb Heston, Redkey.
He is preceded in death by his mother: Vivian Heston.
Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, January 1, 2022 at Meacham Funeral Service. Burial will follow at Black Cemetery with military rites provided by Veterans of Delaware County Honor Guard.
Visitation will be Saturday from 12 until 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
