Janice E. (Grove) Summers, age 71, died Monday March 1, 2021 at Signature Health Care following an extended illness. Born in Muncie Jan. 5, 1950, she grew up in Delaware County and attended DeSoto High School. Living most of her life in Yorktown, she also had lived in Kokomo and Corpus Christi, TX. She was a bank teller at First Merchants Bank and Star Financial Bank for several years and had worked at Lifetouch and Garver’s Landscape before retiring. She attended Alpha Center and enjoyed gardening, flowers, cooking, traveling, birds, and was a Cub Scout leader in earlier years.
Survivors include 2 sons: Blake Edwards and Jason Edwards, both of Yorktown; brother: Phil D. Grove, Sr. (wife: Janet), Albany; 2 sisters: Charlotte Powers, Albany, and Marsha Tarr, Albany; in addition, several nieces & nephews.
She is preceded in death by her first husband, Rex Edwards, and parents: Gerald & Amy (DeHaven) Grove.
Services will be 10 a.m. Friday, March 5, 2021 at Meacham Funeral Service. Burial will follow at Strong Cemetery.
Visiting hours are Thursday from 5 until 7 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home.
