Jack "Boots" Goodman Obituary

SELMA – Jack “Boots” Goodman, age 72, Selma, died Sunday January 28, 2018 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital from a sudden medical condition.  Born in Co-op, Kentucky on November 14, 1945, he grew up in Albany and was a 1964 graduate of Albany High School.  He was a U.S. Marine Corps. Veteran of the Vietnam War and a member of American Legion Post 437, Selma.  He was a member of the steel workers union and a past president of the American Water Co. union.  Jack was a former member of the Eagles Lodge in Muncie and in earlier years enjoyed playing softball and league bowling.  He worked at Indiana American Water Co. for twenty-eight years before retiring in 2000 and also worked for Owens Illinois in Muncie until they closed.

Survivors include his wife of nearly fifty years, Betty “Lou” Goodman; four sons: Jackie “Fletch” Goodman (wife: Karla), Parker City, Mark “Tweety” Goodman (wife: Stephanie), Selma, Michael “Jive” Goodman (partner: Tracy “Gabby” West), Selma, and John Goodman (partner: Brian Hamby), Carlyle, IL; two brothers: Ronald Goodman (wife: Kandi), Chesterfield, and Terry Goodman (wife: Kathy), TX; four sisters: Alma Goetz, Albany, Peggy Harris, Albany, Debbie Hathaway, Albany, and Sandra Hurlbutt (husband: Erving), FL; two brothers-in-law: Ronnie Crabtree (wife: Genny), Crandell, GA, and Sherman Crabtree, GA; two sisters-in-law: Sharon Goodman, Jonesboro, AR, and Anna Yingst (husband: Zack), Muncie; eleven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren with his eighth due in July, and several nieces & nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Dexter & Volena (Gibson) Goodman, and two brothers: Bill Goodman and Donnie Goodman.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday, February 2, 2018 at Meacham Funeral Service.  Burial will follow at Mt. Tabor Cemetery, Selma, with military rites by Veterans of Delaware County Honor Guard.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday from 12 until 2 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorials may be sent to a heart or cancer fund of the donor’s choice.
