Harold D. Anderson, age 86, Redkey, died Thursday February 2, 2023 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital following an illness. Born in Smokey Junction, Tennessee on August 9, 1936, he grew up there and graduated from Norma High School. Harold moved to Jay County in 1961 and remained a resident of Redkey since that time. He served in the U.S. Navy and worked for a time at Armstrong Glass (now Ardagh), Dunkirk, before working at Delco Battery where he retired from in 1994 after 30 years of employment. Harold was a member of Redkey Community Baptist Church and enjoyed sports; he was a Duke fan and liked to attend his grandchildren’s sporting events.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Marilyn Anderson; sons: Ed Anderson (wife: Tina), Centerburg, OH, and Shane Anderson (wife: Tricia), Dunkirk; daughter: Becky Eads (husband: Jim) Cicero; grandchildren: Rachel Stringfield, Jacob Anderson, Eden Hayes, Jade Bocek, Seth Anderson, Yeimi Eads, Sebastian Eads, David Eads, and Courtney Anderson; great-grandchildren: Jabin Stringfield, Emra Stringfield, Ryder Anderson, Axel Anderson, Hannah Hayes, and Marilynn Anderson.
He is preceded in death by his parents: Wiley & Bethany “Bell” (Lowe) Anderson; great-grandchild: Liam Anderson; brother: Chester Anderson, and sisters: Maxine Pennington and Lea Reagan.
Services will be 2 p.m. Monday, February 6, 2023 at Meacham Funeral Service. Burial will follow at Hill Crest Cemetery, Redkey, with military rites provided by Veterans of Delaware County Honor Guard.
Visiting hours are Monday from 1 until 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
