Gary Lee Beal, age 82, Albany, passed away peacefully at home on October 31, 2023 with his wife by his side. Born in Albany on February 27, 1941, he was a lifelong resident there and a 1959 graduate of Albany High School. Gary worked for Ontario/GKN Aerospace, Muncie, for 48 years before retiring in 2008. As an active member of the community, Gary served on the Albany Town Board, Planning Committee, and Fire Board for several years. He belonged to the Albany Volunteer Fire Department and was involved with fire training schools. Besides being an avid hunter, fisherman, and golfer, he also was a part of youth baseball in Albany and coached many teams over the years.
Survivors include his wife, Debra Beal; son: Gary L. Beal II (wife: Tami), Muncie; daughter: Cristie Woodman (Darrel Bost), Portland; step-son: Brian Osborn (wife: Candice), Albany; step-daughter: Athena Stephenson (husband: Mitch), Albany; sister: Jean Holland, Muncie; grandchildren: Austin Woodman and Andrew Woodman, Dunkirk, and Jessica Lewis (husband: Tony), Selma; step-grandchildren: Damian Speedy, Drake Beaty, and Kenzy Beaty, Anderson, Chyanne Osborn, Dylan Stephenson, Andrew Osborn, and Nicholas Osborn, Albany; great-grandchildren: Jesse Mae Lewis, Thomas George Lewis, Caleb Lewis, Lottie Lewis, Selma, and several nieces & nephews.
He is preceded in death by his first wife of 47 years, Nilda J. Beal, who died in 2007; grandson: Thomas Woodard; parents: Jack & Violet Beal; brothers: Marion “Pete” Beal, Terry Beal, and Robert Beal (infant); sister: Helen Parsons.
Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, November 7, 2023 at Riverview United Baptist Church, Albany, with burial following at Strong Cemetery.
Visiting hours are Monday from 5 until 8 p.m. at Meacham Funeral Service and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the church.
