Alice Jean Lyons, age 86, passed into the arms of her loving Savior Sunday May 29, 2022 at The Woodlands, Muncie, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. Born in Albany January 5, 1936, she grew up there and graduated from Albany High School with the class of 1953. She lived in Albany until 2001 and had lived in Brownsburg, Marion, and Gaston.
Alice was a self-employed beautician for 48 years before retiring. In earlier years she passed The Muncie Star in Albany and was a hostess at Richard’s Restaurant in Muncie. She was a people-person and had many lifelong friends. She was actively involved at Water From The Rock Church and Sound The Alarm Church, both in Muncie. Alice Jean was a talented seamstress and also enjoyed knitting, working with flowers, working the poles at election time, playing cards with her local card club, and most of all – being with family. She will be greatly missed and cherished.
Survivors include her children: Ron Coyle (Dawn), Matthews, Lora Garman (Hunter), Albany, and Kevin Calhoun (Julie Smith), Royerton; brother: Bill Anderson, Albany; 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces & nephews.
She is preceded in death by husbands: Lonnie Coyle, Kenneth Calhoun, and Rex Lyons; children: John Calhoun and Karen Tuttle; parents: Charles & Martha (Bonner) Anderson, and sisters: Barbara Adams, Shirley “Sudie” Blackburn, and Sharon Botts.
Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday, June 2, 2022 at Meacham Funeral Service. Burial will follow at Strong Cemetery.
Visiting hours are Thursday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
