Obituary

William Clarence (Bill) Alsip, age 83, Albany, died Saturday May 16, 2026 at Cardinal Care Strategies following an extended illness. Born in Pulaski, Kentucky on January 6, 1943, he moved to Indiana at a young age and grew up in Randolph County. He graduated from Parker City High School and was drafted into the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. After an honorable discharge he worked 30 years for Indiana Steel & Wire, Muncie, before retirement. Bill was an active member and longtime trustee at Bible Baptist Church at Prairie Creek. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, hunting, and playing Rook, horseshoes, and cornhole. He was an avid UK Wildcat fan and enjoyed running an antique business alongside his wife.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Melissa Alsip, and their daughter: Mechelle Whitted (husband: Duwayne), Albany; brothers: Randall Alsip (wife: Kristi), Livingston, TN, and Doug Alsip (wife: Pam), Cammack; sister: Vivian Drake, Albany; grandchildren: Michael William Cox and William Mark Cox (wife: Desiree); great-grandchildren: Keagan, Marshal, Mason, and Kaylee.

He is preceded in death by his parents: Wiley & Frona (Young) Alsip; son: William Mark Alsip; daughter: Merinda R. (Alsip) Cooper; brothers: Darwin (Jay) Alsip and Maurice Alsip; sister: Carolyn Carroll.

Visiting hours will be from 1 until 3 p.m. on Thursday May 21, 2026 at Meacham Funeral Service followed by funeral services at 3 p.m. Burial will follow at Strong Cemetery with military rites provided by Veterans of Delaware County Honor Guard.

Memorials may be sent to Bible Baptist Church at Prairie Creek.
