Virginia E. "Ginny" Hershey, age 84, Parker City, died Sunday August 29, 2021 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital following a brief illness.  Born June 2, 1937 in Muncie, she grew up south of Fairview and was a longtime resident of Delaware County.  She graduated from Green Township High School, Muncie Business College, then later in life received Licensed Practical Nurse certification through Ball State University.  Ginny worked in the medical field for 25 years in various health care settings and retired in 1999 from the office of Dr. Reed in Muncie.  She was an active member of Albany United Methodist Church where, over the years, she participated in choir, adult ministries, fall bazaar, and hanging of the greens (Christmas decoration).  She was a seamstress and enjoyed making quilts, wallpapering, antique shopping, and traveling.  One of her favorite activities was hosting family holiday parties at the family farm.  Ginny also volunteered for Little Red Door for several years.

Survivors include her adult children: Jeffrey E. Hershey, Parker City, and Debra A. (Hershey) Key (husband: Mike), Camby; brother: Phillip J. Meeks, Franklin, TN; sister: Rebecca "Becky" Bogeman (husband: John), Milford; 2 grandchildren: Jennifer Hershey and Phillip Hershey; 2 great-grandchildren: Yani and Shaelyn; nieces, nephews, and other extended family.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 30 years, Phillip Earl Hershey, who died in 1986; also deceased is a son: Michael P. Hershey, parents: Joe & Roberta (Fager) Meeks, and a sister: Martha Smith.

Services will be 11 a.m. Friday, September 3, 2021 at Meacham Funeral Service.  Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery.

Visitation will be Thursday from 4 until 8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home.
