ALBANY – Timothy R. Stanton, age 89, Albany, died Monday night at Albany Health Care & Rehabilitation Center. Born in Jay County on October 23, 1923, he was the son of Haskel & Hazel (Manor) Stanton. He graduated from DeSoto High School in 1941and served as a U.S. Merchant Marine during WWII. Tim retired from American Motors – Chrysler after 32 years and belonged to Local U.A.W. CIO #72.
Survivors include two brothers: Myron Stanton (wife: Barbara), Buford, GA, and Charles Stanton (wife: Thelma M.), Indianapolis; a sister: Ruby Long, Dunkirk; nieces, and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Doris J. Stanton, who died in 2004; also deceased are his parents, two brothers: Max Stanton and Clifford Stanton, and four sisters: Roberta Stanton, Clara Evelyn Stanton, Martha Stover, and Fern Pippin.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Thursday, August 22, 2013, at Meacham Funeral Service, Albany, with burial following at Strong Cemetery.
Visiting hours will be held from 12-2 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
