September 2, 1949 – July 21, 2022
Sylvia Reum, age 72, Albany, died Thursday July 21, 2022 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital following a brief illness. Born in New Castle September 2, 1949, she graduated from Monroe Central High School in 1967 and was a longtime resident of Albany who was loved by many. Sylvia retired after working 19 years at Minars' IGA. She also worked in Muncie at Wise's Supermarket and K-Mart, and in Albany at Village Pantry, Pac-A-Sac, and Albany Video. Sylvia had a great love for her family and was a well-known avid Kentucky Wildcat fan. She attended Fairview United Methodist Church, enjoyed puzzles, taking rides on the golf cart, and swinging on her front porch. She was a former Cub Scout den mother and member of Albany Tri Kappa.
Survivors include her sons: Tommy Reum, Jr. (fiancé: Juli Soliday), Albany, and Todd Reum, Hartford City; grandchildren: Cody Reum (wife: Hailee), Lindsey Miller (husband: Derek), Jesse Reum (wife: Destiny), Jaden Reum, and Nathan Soliday; great-grandchildren: Brinlee, Paisley, Jamison, and Dax; brother-in-law: Ed May; several nieces & nephews; dear friends: Kristy Coil and Sheila Bonner, and her beloved pet: Lexi.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 27 years, Tommy J. Reum, Sr., who died in 1994; parents: Hubert C. & Hester A. (Zachary) Butler; brothers: David Butler and Ralph Butler; sisters: Bonnie Huffman and Vickie May; father-in-law & mother-in-law: George S. & Mary E. Reum; daughter-in-law: Sally Reum; brother-in-law: Herb Huffman, and sister-in-law: Ruth Butler.
Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 26, 2022 at Meacham Funeral Service. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
Visiting hours are Monday from 4 until 8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
