Obituary

Sherry Colleen Woodard, 78, of Muncie, met her savior, Jesus Christ on Friday, December 12, 2025, at her home, with her beloved sister and caregiver, Carla Gick.

Sherry was born on July 27, 1947, in Portland, Indiana, the daughter of the late Carl and Betty (Norris) Woodard. She graduated from Harry Mock, a school for special needs children, in 1963. Sherry worked at Cannon Industries and attended Hillcroft Center for more than 50 years where she continued friendships with people she attended Harry Mock with. While attending Hillcroft, she was a part of the Special Olympics, participating in swimming and track and field. She attended both regional and state meets.

Sherry enjoyed coloring, crossword puzzles, word searches, and watching Shirley Temple movies. She loved to copy the Bible, care for her many doll babies, and be a "good girl" for her sister. Most of all she loved attending church and going out to eat afterwards.

Sherry was a member of Tabernacle of Praise Church and the New Norm. She also attended the Gathering in Ridgeville.

She had so much love of everything. If you knew Sherry, you loved her. Her smile was contagious and her laugh infectious. She was a constant companion, always on the arm of her sister, Carla, whom she loved beyond belief and vice versa. Sherry loved watching Say Yes to The Dress. One of her favorite memories was her wedding-themed 70th birthday party, where she got to say "yes" to her dream wedding dress. The event was attended by over 100 people, including friends, relatives, and coworkers.

Remaining to cherish Sherry's memory is her sister Carla Gick; nieces and nephews, Jason Gick (Julie) of Muncie, Jeremy Gick (Kristin) of Muncie, Justin Gick (Stephani) of Anderson, Marcella Earl (David) of Maryland, Jennifer Rhoades of Colorado, Aaron Rhoades of Muncie, and Ryan Rhoades of Anderson; and close great-nieces and great-nephews, Hallie, Tanner, Addyson, Olivia, Evan, Lincoln, and Nissi Gick.

Preceding Sherry in death are her parents, Carl and Betty Woodard; sister, Mona Rhoades; and two nieces, Mindy Warmoth and Gina Rhoades.

A funeral service to celebrate Sherry's life will be held at 6:00 pm Thursday, December 18, 2025, at Tabernacle of Praise Church, 2200 E. Fuson Rd. in Muncie. Pastor John Tyner, Pastor Ken Fuller, and Pastor Angela Smiley will officiate. A private burial will take place in Gardens of Memory Cemetery at a later time.

Friends and family may gather to share and remember from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm Thursday at Tabernacle of Praise Church.
