ALBANY – Sherrie L. Pence, age 51, Albany, died Saturday night at home in the presence of her family. Born in Muncie on Jan. 6, 1961, she grew up in Albany and was a 1979 graduate of Delta High School. She received a degree in pre-school education from Ivy Tech and was an active volunteer at Albany Elementary School. Sherrie was also involved in numerous local charity events. She worked at Stoneridge Electronics of North America, Portland, for 18 years until becoming ill. Sherrie enjoyed crafts including ceramics, and was a member of the Albany Area Riders, a motorcycle riders group that she and her husband belonged to together.
Survivors include her husband of 21 years, Jerry Pence, and their son, Jeremy (age 9); 2 sisters: Connie Moles (husband: Russell), Dunkirk, and Bettie Ashcraft (husband: Paul), Albany; also, 6 nieces and 4 nephews.
She is preceded in death by her father: Floyd Cox; her mother: Helen Parson; and her sister, Jackie Cox.
Services will at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, January 18, 2012, at Meacham Funeral Service, Albany, with burial following Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
