IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Sheila K.
King
October 3, 1941 – November 17, 2024
Sheila K. (Smith) King, age 83, Albany, died Sunday November 17, 2024 at home. Born in Hartford City on October 3, 1941, she grew up in Albany where she resided for most of her life. She was a 1959 graduate of Albany High School and received a B.S. degree from Ball State University. Sheila lived in California from 1963 until 1989 where she owned & operated Smith & King, a business that provided tax preparation. In 1989, upon retiring, she and Bill returned to Albany, Indiana. She started each day with a fresh cup of coffee and a list of new projects to undertake. She and her sister owned Sisters Creations where her love of sewing and her love of woodworking with her father allowed the family to spend countless hours making treasures together.
Sheila never had children of her own, but she loved her nieces, nephews, and sister with the same intensity as only a mother has. She will be jokingly remembered as being as good at trivia as she was bad at cards!
Survivors include her sister: Gail L. Rhoades, Albany; niece: Jennifer Pike (husband, Dan), Ridgeville, and their children: Katie, Cole, and Samantha; nephew: Matthew Rhoades, Muncie, and his children: Mati and Wilsen; step-sons: Larry King and Gary King; several step-grandchildren also survive.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 26 years, William E. King, who died in 1993; parents: Willard & Arvilla (Peggy) Smith, and brother-in-law: Terry L. Rhoades.
In accordance with her wishes, cremation will take place and no services will be held.
Memorials may be sent to Albany United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 277, Albany, IN 47320; condolences and other expressions of sympathy may be given at www.MeachamFuneralService.com.
The family would like to give special thanks to the Heart to Heart Hospice team.
