ALBANY – Sharon Schlosser, age 78, Albany, died Sunday evening at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital. Born in Jay County on May 12, 1935, she grew up in Portland and moved to Albany in 1956. She was a 1953 graduate of Portland High School and retired in 2001 from Rock Tenn in Eaton after working there 31 years. She also worked at Craig Trucking in Albany. Sharon was a member of Albany United Methodist Church and Delta Theta Tau (at-large member). She volunteered at the A.U.M.C. Resale Shop and the church food pantry and enjoyed gardening, flowers, and her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Bernie Schlosser; 2 daughters: Marla Shaw (husband: Phil), Muncie, and Marcie Schlosser, Albany; a brother: Wayne Weaver (wife: Pat), Mattoon, IL; 5 grandchildren: Elizabeth Borton (husband: Cole), Phillip Shaw, Christopher Shaw, Patrick Shaw, and Timothy Shaw (girlfriend: Danielle); 4 great-grandchildren: Justin Berg, Hunter Shaw, Drew Shaw, and Ashley Shaw; also, several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Clarence &Vada Weaver, and her step-mother: Ruby Weaver.
Services will be 1 p.m. Friday, June 28, 2013, at Albany United Methodist Church, with Pastor Clive Hamlyn officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday from 4-8 p.m. at Meacham Funeral Service, Albany, and one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church.
