ALBANY – Ruth E. (Edmonds) Draper, age 96, Albany, died Wednesday evening at Albany Health Care & Rehabilitation Center. Born in Jamesville, WI on June 9, 1917, she grew up in Wisconsin and had lived in Chicago before moving to Albany in 1980. Ruth was a surgical technician at Edgewater Hospital, Chicago, for 30 years before retiring. She also worked for Bundt Candy Co. and was a nanny while living in Chicago. She was a member of the United Methodist church denomination in Wisconsin and actively involved at Fairview United Methodist Church. She was a supporter of Moody Bible Institute, March of Dimes, and Fraternal Order of Police.
Survivors include 4 daughters: Jean Ann O'Bryant (husband: Daniel), Redkey; Nancy Kay Rasmussen (husband: Donald), New Auburn, WI, Lynda Lou Peart, St. Cloud, MN, and Susan Jean Hillestead, Nashville, TN; 12 grandchildren: Daniel O'Bryant, Jr. (wife: Lee Ann), George O'Bryant (wife: Doris), Mary Corn (husband: Gary), Patricia Fix, Donald Rasmussen, Lisa Hassermer (husband: Joe), Thersa Linton, Brad Rasmussen, Robert Rasmussen, Jeff Peart, Jennifer Christensen (husband: Ben), and Kurt Christenson (wife: Heidi); also, several great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her first husband: Miller D'Amico; her second husband: Charles Draper; a son: Roy Earl D'Amico; 2 daughters: Shirley D'Amico and Darlene D'Amico; her parents: James & Mary Jane Main; 2 brothers: Earl & Ralph Main, and a sister: Jenny Main.
A memorial service will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, December 30, 2013, at Fairview United Methodist Church. Cremation was chosen.
