ALBANY – Ruby R. Moon, age 98, Albany, died Sunday March 17, 2013 at Albany Health Care & Rehabilitation Center. Born in Jay County on April 26, 1914, she graduated from Redkey High School in1932 and lived in Randolph County before moving to Albany. Ruby was a homemaker and helped her husband on the farm for several years. She was a member of Fairview and Albany United Methodist Churches and belonged to Order of The Eastern Star in Albany.
Survivors include 3 daughters: Joan Garringer (husband: Robert, Sr.), Fairview, Linda Byers (husband: Robert, Sr.), Redkey, and Karen Smith (husband: Joseph), Ridgeville; 8 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, 8 great-great grandchildren, 2 nieces, and a nephew.
She is preceded in death by her husband of over 60 years, Howard Moon, who died in 1997; her parents: Noble & Opal Painter; a brother: Jay M. Painter, and a great-grandchild: Hunter Byers.
Graveside services will begin at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at Strong Cemetery, Albany, with burial following. There will be no calling hours.
