MUNCIE – Ronald D. Sapp, age 79, Muncie, died Sunday June 12, 2016, at home following an extended illness. Born July 18, 1936 in Fleming County, Kentucky, he moved to Dunkirk in 1955 and worked for Armstrong Cork for a few years. He was a skilled carpenter for most of his life and worked for Staton Homes in Muncie for over 35 years. Ronald enjoyed playing multiple instruments including guitar & banjo; he often played with the Davenport Brothers and his brother Mike. He also liked fishing and woodworking.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley, and her son Rick Lorrison (wife: Penny), Muncie; his children: Tamela McKenzie (husband: Donald), Dunkirk, Valerie Ridgway (husband: Terry), Dunkirk, Mark Sapp (longtime friend: Debbie), Tybee Island, GA, Patricia Clouse (husband: Matthew), Farmland, and Andy Sapp (wife: Dena), Eaton; two brothers: Ralph Sapp (wife: Callie), Tilton, KY, and Randy Sapp, Bethel, KY; a sister: Connie Stacey, Poplar Plains, KY; his best friend: Wedge Carter, Muncie; 9 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and several nieces & nephews.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Carol Joyce (Davenport) Sapp, who died in 2009; also deceased are his parents: Lee Allen Sapp and Gladys Gallagher, and two brothers: Roger Sapp and Mike Sapp.
A celebration of Ronald's life will be held from 4 until 6 p.m. on Friday, June 17, 2016, at The Gathering, Muncie.
