DUNKIRK – Randy VanSkyock, age 56, Dunkirk, passed away Tuesday morning at home following a brief illness. Born in Muncie on July 20, 1954, he attended Jay County schools and was a lifelong resident of Dunkirk. He was employed at Verallia (formerly Saint-Gobain Containers) in Dunkirk for 37 years. Randy was a strong labor advocate with the G.M.P. (Glass Molders and Potters International Union); he was vice president for 10 years and served on the business committee for 20 years. Randy was a member of the American Legion in Dunkirk and former member of the Dunkirk Moose Lodge. He enjoyed camping, reading, and spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his spouse: Kathy Peters; 2 daughters: Angie VanSkyock (spouse: Bruce Elliott), McEwen, TN, and Robin G. VanSkyock, Dunkirk; his father: Tommy VanSkyock (spouse: Carol), Garnersville, NY; a brother: Tommy VanSkyock (spouse: Dawn), NY; a sister: Cheryl Rotella (spouse: John), NY, and 4 grandchildren: Aleisha Elliott, Triston VanSkyock, Addy VanSkyock, and Adden VanSkyock.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Arlene Faris, a sister: Pam Johnson, and a nephew: Nick Johnson.
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Friday, December 31, 2010, at Meacham Funeral Service,
Albany. Cremation will follow.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday from 4 until 11 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home.
