MUNCIE – Paul Jay Whetsel, age 85, Muncie, died Monday morning at Parkview Nursing Center following an extended illness. Born in Jay County, he worked in the medical field as an L.P.N. at several area hospitals including Ball Memorial Hospital. He eventually retired from Winona Memorial Hospital in Indianapolis. He enjoyed country music and collecting antiques.

He leaves behind 2 sons: Larry Whetsel (wife: Melanie), Redkey, and Jerry Whetsel, Indianapolis; 2 brothers: Robert Whetsel (wife: Olive), Muncie, and Gail Whetsel, Muncie; a sister: Annabelle Peterson, Muncie; a granddaughter: Christal Whetsel, Redkey, and nieces & nephews.

Preceding him in death are his parents, Paul E. & Oma Whetsel, and 2 brothers (twins), Harold & Harry Whetsel.

Graveside services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Wednesday March 31, 2010, at Hill Crest Cemetery, Redkey. Burial will follow. There will be no viewing hours.
