Beloved sister and aunt, P. Joan Nuckols, age 92, Muncie, left this world Friday November 22, 2024 at Albany Health Care & Rehabilitation Center following a brief illness.  Born in Redkey on December 15, 1931, she grew up in Jay County and was a 1949 graduate of Dunkirk High School.  She was Office Manager at West Jay Clinic, Dunkirk, before retiring in 1994.  Joan also worked at Indiana Glass Co., Central Indiana Gas Co., and First State Bank of Dunkirk.  She was active within the Dunkirk Elks Lodge and enjoyed reading.

Survivors include her brother: John E. Peterson (wife: Jean), Dunkirk, and several nieces & nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, E. Lee Nuckols, who died in 2005; parents: Harry Jay and Gleah (Hiatt) Peterson; brothers: Harry Peterson, Paul Gene Peterson, and James Peterson.

The funeral is 2 p.m. Monday, November 25, 2024 at Meacham Funeral Service with burial following at Hill Crest Cemetery, Redkey.

Visiting hours are Monday from 1 until 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
