ALBANY – Orland J. Reynolds, age 83, a lifelong resident of Albany, died Wednesday evening at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital after having been ill for the past few weeks. Born in Gaston on Sept. 14, 1932, he was a 1950 graduate of Albany High School and a U.S. Marine Corps officer during the Korean War. He worked at Warner Gear in Muncie for 30 years before retiring in 1992. Mr. Reynolds was a member of Word of Life Ministries, American Legion, and the former Independent Order of Odd Fellows. He loved standard bred horse racing.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Doris (Mattingly) Reynolds; 2 sons: Steve A. Reynolds, Redkey, and James Daniel Reynolds (wife: Jeri), Albany; 3 daughters: Teresa D. Rees (husband: Mitchell), Hartford City, Sheila L. Hughes, Muncie, and Angela L. Snyder (husband: Greg), Muncie; a brother: Forrest Dean Reynolds (wife: Tina), Albany; a sister: Elizabeth Reynolds, Muncie; 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and several nieces & nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, 2 grandsons, a brother, and 4 sisters.
Funeral services will be 12 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, 2015, at Meacham Funeral Service with Pastor Mitchell N. Rees officiating. Military rites will be provided by Veterans of Delaware County Honor Guard. Private burial will take place at Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
Visiting hours will be held two hours prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home.
