ALBANY – Norma L. Garinger, age 88, Albany, died Saturday morning at Albany Health Care & Rehabilitation Center. Born in Centerville on May 11, 1926, she graduated from Centerville High School and moved to the Albany area in 1968. She was a teller at Industrial Trust, Albany, then Union State Bank in Redkey before retirement. Norma was a member of Centerville Christian Church and was a past President of Psi Iota Xi sorority.
Survivors include her children: James H. Schondelmayer (wife: Lois), Evans, GA, Debby Norris (husband: Pug), Albany, and Mark A. Schondelmayer (wife: Melissa), Claremore, OK; three step children: Suzanne Twigg, Ridgeville, Debra Edwards (husband: Dave), Kokomo, and Kent Garinger (wife: Lisa), Muncie; 11 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, 8 step grandchildren, 11 step great-grandchildren, and several nieces & nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Richard A. Garinger, who died in 2008. Her parents, a brother, and a sister are also deceased.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2014, at Meacham Funeral Service, Albany, with burial following at Reitenour Cemetery, Ridgeville.
Calling hours will be held on Monday from 4 until 7 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
