Obituary

ALBANY – Noah "Ed" Smith, age 78, Albany, died unexpectedly on Friday February 19, 2016.  Born in Muncie on July 5, 1937, he grew up in Selma and lived in Albany for the past several years.  He was a 1955 graduate of Selma High School and a member of Selma Christ United Methodist Church.  Ed enjoyed woodcarving, volunteering for Second Harvest, and spending time with family.  He retired in 1993 from Indiana Steel & Wire and after retirement worked at The Star Press and Garden View Funeral Home.

Survivors include the love of his life, Sonita Smith, to whom he was married for nearly fifty-seven years; two sons: Don Smith (wife: Laura), Indianapolis, and Dean Smith (wife: Lorrina), Muncie; two daughters: Dayna Bloch (husband: Jeff), North Port, FL, and Deanne McComas, Muncie; a sister: Katy Brinson, Port Charlotte, FL; special grandchildren & great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and his special little buddy, Wiley.

He is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and three sisters.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday, February 22, 2016, at Selma Christ United Methodist Church.  Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery.

Visiting hours will be held on Sunday from 4 until 7 p.m. at Meacham Funeral Service, Albany, and one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church.

Memorials may be sent to St. Jude Children's Hospital or Selma Christ United Methodist Church.
