Nellie Adams, age 84, Albany, died Monday February 3, 2025 at home following an illness. Born in Peru, Indiana on December 5, 1940, she moved to Delaware County and attended Royerton High School. She lived in Muncie and DeSoto before coming to Albany in the 1960s. Nellie was a homemaker and worked at the Kream Kup, Albany Nursing Home (as head cook and dietician), and Gommels Meat Market in Muncie. Nellie was an accomplished traveling league bowler and enjoyed baking, crafting, scrapbooking, and attending antique shows & festivals with her husband.
Survivors include sons: James L. Adams, Jr. (wife: Sheila, deceased), Albany, and Timmy L. Adams (wife: Nikki), DeSoto; daughter: Deborah K. Badders, Muncie; sisters: Shirley Miller (companion: Doug Cupp), Kokomo, and Diane Thomae (husband: Joe), CO; 9 grandchildren: Jerald Isenhart (wife: Jennifer), Holly Isenhart, Selena Helvey (husband: Brad), Jeffery Adams (wife: Crystal), Justin Adams (wife: Nichole), Austin Hammel (wife: Ashley), Devon Adams (wife: Dailynn), Skyler Hammel (wife: Sierra), and Brody Adams; 17 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild, nieces, and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, James L. Adams, Sr., who died in 2009, and parents: Elbert & Thelma (Rogers) Smith.
Services will be 10 a.m. Friday, February 7, 2025 at Meacham Funeral Service. Interment will take place at Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
Visiting hours are Thursday from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
