REDKEY – Nelda R. "Nell" Dornberger, age 61, rural Redkey, died Sunday night at the Jay County Hospital following a sudden illness. Born in Middlesboro, KY, she moved to Albany at age 13 then became a resident of Jay County where she lived most of her life. She graduated from Dunkirk High School in 1970 and later a graduate of master gardening school. Nell worked at Indiana Glass, Dunkirk, for 12 years and was also involved in horticulture at Oakhurst Gardens and Halteman Village. She enjoyed working jigsaw puzzles and reading.
Survivors include her husband of 40 years. Bernard Dornberger; 2 brothers: Kerry Sulfridge (wife: Cheryl), Albany, and Dennis Sulfridge (wife: Karen); a sister: Nancy Sulfridge, Redkey; several nieces & nephews, and a very special friend, Charlotte Miller, Muncie.
Her parents, James & Elizabeth Strong, are deceased.
Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Thursday, October 25, 2012, at Meacham Funeral Service, Albany, with burial following at Hill Crest Cemetery, Redkey.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home.
