MUNCIE – Nancy A. Sweeney, Muncie, died at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital following a short illness.  She graduated from Shaw High School (Ohio) in 1948 and became a Registered Nurse through training at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, OH where she worked as a nurse for a few years.  She retired in 1979 from E.S. Klosterman, Dayton, after working there for 15 years.

Nancy was a member of New Burlington United Methodist Church and enjoyed family, reading, and collecting books.  In earlier years she was a wonderful mother and homemaker who worked alongside her husband on the farm and was longtime Treasurer of her church in Ohio.  Her strength, kindness and faithfulness will be missed by all who knew her.

Survivors include a daughter: Daryl R. Hamlyn (husband: Clive), Daleville; 2 sons: Daniel M. Sweeney (wife: Robbin), Mandan, ND, and David H. Sweeney (wife: Barbara), Greenfield, OH; a brother: William D. Green, Newberg, OR; 6 grandchildren: Jessica Hamlyn, Christopher Hamlyn, Rachael Weigel, Lauren Sweeney, Jonathan Sweeney, Sarah Spencer, and 6 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, James R. Sweeney, and her parents, J. Milan & Lydia W. Green.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 19, 2012 at Meacham Funeral Service, Albany.  Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery.  Rev. Robyn Axel-Adams will be officiating; Rev. Donna Ward will participate in the service.

Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday from 4:30-7:30 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home.
