ALBANY – Mildred Jacobs Anderson, age 87, Albany, died Friday morning at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital following a brief illness.  Born Dec. 2, 1927 in Wartrace, TN, she moved to the Albany area in 1955 and worked at Sheller Globe in Montpelier for 22 years before retiring.  Over the years she enjoyed cooking, camping, gardening, and canning.

Survivors include her children: Shirley Bullard (husband: Kenneth), Redkey, Lois Young (husband: Gary), Redkey, Jerry Jacobs, Albany, Toni "Pat" Short (husband: Mike), Winchester, Barb Steed, Redkey, Rick Jacobs (wife: Penny), Portland, Larry Jacobs (wife: Georgia), Portland, and Brian Jacobs (fiancé: Amy), Daleville; 5 brothers: Roy Blackburn, Redkey, Charles Blackburn (wife: Sherry), Albany, Jesse Blackburn (wife: Mary), Sharpsville, David Blackburn (wife: Elaine), Hemlock, and Joe Blackburn (wife: Sudy), Galveston; a sister: Dorothy Jean Dickerson (husband: Donnie), Manchester, TN; 25 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces & nephews.

She is preceded in death by husbands George Jacobs (1993) and Bob Anderson (2000); her parents: Robert & Bertha Blackburn; 2 brothers: Alfred & Ross Blackburn, and an infant sister: Brenda Fay Blackburn.

Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 7, 2015, at Meacham Funeral Service.  Burial will follow at Hill Crest Cemetery, Redkey.

Visiting hours will be held on Monday from 4 until 8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
